How I discovered Forestry

When I was at school I didn't know very well what I wanted to study, but I was sure that it couldn’t be something whose their purpose was to be in an office to accomplish the job and not being a help for the world. In spite of the above, almost all my middle school I wanted to study to be a lawyer with my best friend, we dreamed about study at Universidad de Chile and helping people through our career, but when it came the time to take our electives, I realized that I really liked Mathematics as much as Literature and History, and from then on I decided to Study engineering (maybe as a personal challenge, who knows).

What we felt with Paula (one of my closest friend), when we used to think about what to study in school.

First I studied Civil Mining Engineering and fortunately, the second year I was able to check that the career wasn't what I was looking for my future. I spoke with the program Director of Mining and he support me and give me advise on how I could switch to something that I really like. Finally, I start to look for a career at Universidad de Chile and in an Alternatives Academic Fair I met a teacher of Forestry and ended up falling in love with the career, just for how she explain me the close connection with the nature and the large number of areas in which you can develop in this career.

PS. Another thing that I love about Forestry are the wonderful people that I've met here, friends that always make me feel comfortable wherever we go.

My group of friends in Forestry, we've traveled a lot together!
